Check out this advert for FedEx made by BBDO Guerrero, Philippines.
I think it's a seasonally appropriate billboard especially because the Philippines almost always have thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Although I have yet to see a delivery guy as dashing as the one in the poster. ;-P

Sour's Hibi no Neiro (Tone of Everyday)
I know this has made the Internet rounds already but, after viewing it, I instantly fell in likey with it. Talk about some serious video editing, huh?
Video info:

Weird Things Said in Job Interviews
CNN listed 40+ ridiculous answers (and instances) that hiring managers have heard from applicants in an interview.
Here are some of my favorites:
I won't judge them because I'm also guilty of saying some weird things in an interview. One instance, when interviewed for an internship to an advertising agency about my weaknesses, I said, "I think my weakness is not knowing what my weakness is or weaknesses are."I never heard from them again during the application period for interns.
I'm just grateful for the list made because I know what not to share during these interviews.
Here are some of my favorites:
When have you demonstrated leadership skills?
"Well my best example would be in the world of online video gaming. I pretty much run the show; it takes a lot to do that."
Use three adjectives to describe yourself
"I hate questions like this."

New Airport Rules in Saudi Arabia: Am I In Punk'd The Middle East Edition?
I received this warning email from a colleague this morning:
There are two things that bothered me:
I'm still bothered that a Pinoy made that stupid contraption. Or maybe, they're just telling us it's a Filipino who is to blame for this catastrophe.
I feel like I'm in the Middle Eastern edition of Punk'd? I mean, Arabic Ashton Kutcher or whatever, I know you're out there somewhere! C'mon, I know we're on Punk'd the Arabian version!
Dearest All,
Please be advised that all Airports in Saudi Arabia have a new rule regarding leaving and arriving overseas workers carrying electronic devices. This has not been published to the public, but please advice all our workers who are traveling to K.S.A.
- All electronic devices will be submitted for check up before immigration section. Devices include cellular phones with camera and memory card, flash disks, external hard drive, laptops/notebooks/PCs, mp3 players.
- A special USB device will be inserted to the electonic devices that you are carrying. This special device can scan all videos and pictures (.jpg, .bmp, .png, .gif, .tiff, .avi, .wmv, .3gp, .mp4, etcetera) and all contents of your laptop/cellphone, and will be recorded to their main computer.
- All devices with nude/naked pictures/videos in it will be confiscated immediately. There will be no fines, and refusal will send you to jail and deportation and black listed to K.S.A.
- Laptops with pirated softwares and videos will also be confiscated.
This rule has been applied already and is being practice in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah Airports. This is excluding Bahrain airport.
FYI, the special device was invented by a Filipino.
Kindly include this in your orientation with the workers and tell them not to bring any pirated softwares, movies, or nude pictures. Even datas that are hidden can be found by this device, so tell them not to bring any at all. The laptap of one of my friend, a Sony Viao, which cost around 8T SR, was confiscated a few days ago, because of 1 semi nude picture that he forgot to erase.
Thank you.
There are two things that bothered me:
- A Filipino is behind all of this. I mean a kabayan (of all the races working in this kingdom) should know that the only avenue wherein we can watch movies here in the comforts of our own home is through downloading torrents of it!
- I have porn in my notebook. I believe everyone has porn in their PCs, may it be soft or hardcore, they do exist somewhere in the recesses of your hard drive, even those which people believe is not porn. Admit it, we're just human beings filled with carnal desires. Therefore, I won't go out of the kingdom with my notebook or external storage devices nor will I bring one filled with a refined version of 2girls1cup when I return here from vacay. It's too risky.
I'm still bothered that a Pinoy made that stupid contraption. Or maybe, they're just telling us it's a Filipino who is to blame for this catastrophe.

Curpew - Quirino Station, Manila
I was on my way to Fairview from my flat in Manila to meet up with my siblings for my birthday noncelebration last year. The FX I rode stopped in a construction building near the Quirino train station. I saw this and dropped whoever it was on the phone, flipped through the menus for the camera function, and snapped away before the ride went zoom-zoom on me.
I might post stuff like this once in a while under the Field Trip tag. The intellectual snob in me knows there are tons of "Engrish" here in the Middle East too.
And, please, stuff using the word "stuffs". There is no way "stuffs" will be accepted so stuff it already. ;-P

How to Open A Banana Like A Monkey
Neat, no? But wouldn't it be easier to just slit the banana from the side just like when you're eating nilagang saba (boiled Musa Saba banana)?

Manila Design Week 2009
Graphic Design moves in Manila this August!
This week-long event is a gathering of all graphic designers to bring Philippine Graphic Design into the mainstream. Well, can I just say, "Finally!"?
Not only that, MDW '09 will also showcase collaborations between artists in various "creative" hot spots throughout the Metro with each day showcasing a different theme.
Oh, goody! I heart exhibits! However, I think they have yet to finalize the schedule for this event.
How I wish I could go on leave and participate in this first-ever kind of event in the Philippines.
I already missed tons of Graphika Manila design conferences (I attended the first and that's when my brother, Addie, won this Adobo Magazine subscription which we forgot to claim). I do remember sulking for days after missing Graphika Manila. And now this?! Torture ito!

Pac Man Stapler
This Stap Man stapler (closely resembling a Pac Man, the game and not the Pinoy boxer) is cute and I should have one for my desk.
But would it be cuter in yellow?
Gawd, I really miss going to a school supplies store. I need my fix--quick!

Bouie ♥ Wannabees Shirt
A graphic tee made by David Creighton-Pester.
Makes me wanna miss my Mickey Mouse stuff back at my crib, particularly the huge metal + plastic pencil case I use during college days. I need it here for my pens and other writing implements in the office.
Yes, it may seem dorky for some but I still make use of a pencil case. Shopping for school supplies, even if I don't necessarily need them at once, is one of my stress relieving activities that I share with some of my college friends.

Palm Pre = Awesomeness
I've been secretly lusting to get my hands on a GSM version of the Pre, the newest smartphone from Palm.
It uses the new WebOS, built by Palm from the ground up. It's totally amazing from all the videos I have seen all over the net discussing the new OS.
What really interested me is the app which mimics the legacy OS of the Palm. I've been itching myself to buy a new smartphone (I'm ditching my iPhone 3GS envy) and this app would definitely be the first one I should get so my files from Akazukin Cha-Cha (my crimson Treo 680) can be transported to the Pre.
A mind-blowing advert for the Facebook app for the Pre. Love it!

Quick Access Folders in Windows Taskbar
I oftentimes want a quick access to some of the files here in the office computers that I use for my job. So what to do when I don't want to use Rocketdock's Stack options because it's a tad slow for me or the Quick Launch option just doesn't do the job?
Make yourself a new taskbar of that folder. Here's how:
Now, your new toolbar sits at the rightmost corner of the taskbar near the notification area. With this new toolbar, a menu pops-up which lets you browse its contents and open files right then and there.
Nifty, no? ;-P

Half-Blood Prince trailer
It's sad that I'm going to miss this movie on the 17th since there are no cinema houses here. ;(
For now, this will have to do with my Harry Potter craving.
Question of the moment: Why is the color grading for this movie different from the first three? Wish they'd done this before. I love it!

Office thriller
It was a typical busy day for me in the office except for this scenario before my lunch break.
Office Crush (OC): I'm going now.
Me: Huh? Like now? Off to where?
OC: Sharjah.
Me: I see. To visit your sick brother only, right?
OC: Yeah.
Me: When are you coming back?
OC: I'm going back this Wednesday.
Me: So you'll be back in the office this Saturday?
OC: Yes, yes, I will. Well, if you want anything just tell me.
Me: (Gave a puzzled look because it was a weird moment for I was carrying my lunch, place mat, coffee mug, and banana to the training room aka my lunch place) Uh...
OC: If you're not decided yet, you can just tell it over SMS in my Saudi number. Or you can get my other roaming number in the HR office.
Me: Sure.
As I closed the door of my lunch pad, I just smiled so widely and felt the rush of blood in my cheeks.
Gosh. I have never felt so thrilled in my entire stay here.
Now, what should I ask for?

Daria DVD: Is it 2010 yet?
Daria, the darling animation show brain everyone loved from MTV in the 90s, will go to DVD next year. It's long been overdue and, according to the TV Shows on DVD site, Daria said "I find the situation unbelievable myself." She's so hysterically funny! lol
Although I have torrented all of its videos and watched it in the comfort of my private room here in the office during my lunch hour, I think I'll have no problem spending on this chick since I can totally relate to her.
Sometimes, I think she's like the little sarcastic voice inside of me. I bet there's a little Daria inside all of us.
So pretty please, 2010, arrive earlier than expected?
